I fell a bit behind myself in posting this time, which happens as time got away from me. Better late than never, right? So here goes!

FRED Eatery is a lovely little space, a two part business, with the cafe/restaurant on one side and a homewares store on the other. We were here for lunch, and were seated promptly and without fuss in very comfortable chairs/banquet. Lots of light in this place, some great decor, including giant paper cranes hanging from the ceiling. It's clear that FRED is very popular as the space was practically full, so booking is a must, I think. The servings are large; B had the Stir Stir Fry and I had the Sticky Black Chicken, and it was delicious, as was the hot chocolate. It was a cool, overcast day when we were there, but it was delightfully warm and cozy inside the eatery.

As stairs are my nemesis, we didn't get up to the mezzanine level to see the library, but if the ground floor of FRED is anything to go by, I'm sure upstairs will not disappoint. FRED is in the middle of Aldgate in the Adelaide Hills [Google Map Link] and very easy to find.

Manna Coffee Shop is a small cafe in Norwood, maybe ten minutes out of the city. It's also home to some of the best Hainanese chicken rice I've had, (though I wish there was more green sauce in the servings!) The last time I ate here was after a session with my physio when he was working across the road, prior to that when I lived in the general area.

It really is very small, perhaps 5 tables inside and 3 outside, but don't let that deter you. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the decor is lovely and the food is delicious. Yes, I had the Hainanese chicken rice and B had the chicken fried rice.

Being on Kensington Rd as it is, [Google Maps Link] Manna is very popular and I wasn't surprised to see a lot of people going in and out, generally for take away while we were there.

First up is the Stirling Book Shed, which, as you might guess by the name, is purely for books. One review I read about it which made me laugh said, "Came for the shed, stayed for the books. 5*" And boy howdy, what a great location for books. It's a bit tricky to find (so here's the [Google Map Link].) It's worth the hunt, though, as it's a treasure trove. Every genre you can possibly imagine, with a table outside with free books! Inside, there are two large cabinets full of vintage and antique books, and they are SO reasonably priced, I almost fainted. The rest of the selection in the shed is brilliant.

I'd like to go back and browse a bit more, but I was already tired by this point and I could tell B was as well, so I got a few things and left with a mental note to come back again at some point. The staff were just wonderful, though fair warning, if you're looking up a book on your phone, coverage isn't great, so your internet might drop in and out.

Stirling Community Shop is in a very visible position which is great, but it's also right at the intersection just before you get onto the freeway to head towards the city, so it's a bit of a tricky navigate to make sure you don't go straight ahead and that you instead turn left, so you can get a park. Saying that, though, this little shop is worth it.

It doesn't have any books, but it does have everything else you could possibly want and prices are cheap. Staff are lovely and friendly, and the place is very busy, which, considering how expensive the world is now, is no real surprise. I guess if you want clothes, bric-a-brac, crockery, kitchenware, cds, dvds, games, toys and so on, you're fine here and the books will be taken care of at the Book Shed, which is really close. A nice little store.

The Quaker Shop has to be one of the longest running op shops in Adelaide, I think. I remember my mum telling me how she went there when she was studying nursing and that was many years ago. It's handily next door to Manna's Coffee Shop, so have some lunch, then shop! The prices are always pretty reasonable and they have a high turn over of goods, everything from clothes to jewelry to cookware to crockery to books to garden supplies and more.

Staff are always busy, so can be a bit brusque, but other than that, it's a good op shop and you're bound to find something you'll want.

Goodies Op Shop is a church op shop (Clayton Wesley) and is in a hall at the back of the church and it is HUGE. It's also full of stuff. So many books, jewelry, clothes (vintage, retro and new), furniture, bric-a-brac, records (remember them? XD) and so much more.

They have regular sales (and I mean SALES) where things are listed as being under $2 and there's a high turnaround of goods. They also have a cafe next door, with cheap and cheerful coffee, tea and hot chocolate and food, as well open mic nights and sign up for fitness days.
